turfed

As in “I totally turfed our backyard on Friday!”

Or, with alternate definition, “That test was hard as turf!”

It’s true.

After a slow day at work on Friday, I arrived home just in time to help out with the turfing. To put it into a simple equation:

1 college student + 1 trailer full of turf rectangles + 1 evening = insta(ish)yard

I’m still feeling the burn, as it were. Somehow, moving large numbers of heavy objects has constituted a workout of some sort. Quite odd.

That was all of Friday evening, with the perk of pizza and Amadeus after the turfing.

I do very much love that show. Salieri is one of my favorite characters in any medium. He’s fantastically insane.  And of course, Mozart’s laugh is show-stopping.

Saturday was basically the fellowship of the working prepping the house for the return of the kids, those two towers of faith that spent the week on a choir trip to the inner city of Orlando (oh, and Disney). (Did I warn about the sneaky nerdiness of that sentence? Oh well, too late now.)

We cleaned up Veem’s car (which is a scary thought, because somewhere along the line he grew up enough to be able to drive) to surprise him when he got home. It’s a pretty little blue thang, Sunfire, with little to no “first car” stigma of ugliness or clunkyness. Sweet deal, all around.

Picked up the kids that evening and Villa’d it up for their return meal. Listened to all manner of stories about rides and tour-guiding (my siblings acted as such, considering our multiple Disney visits over the years) and such. Veem even boasted a new respect for my father’s masterminding of our previous trips, as in putting up with whines and differences of opinion and all the intricacies that come with being in charge. He’s growing up so fast…</cheese>

Sunday was church in the morning, then pooling in the afternoon. Cousin came over to splash too, which inevitably led to some Super Smash Bros. and a touch of Mario Party. (Yes, the manly-ness that is Mario Party cannot be quenched.)

This morning was devoted to oversleeping a bit, and getting to work two hours late. But hey, no big. Then, cue a good 3ish hours of poeming for a total of 11? and that brings us to now.

Here’s to having a good week all around.

Charles

(Oh, and Jess: I love you.)
